Anthony Houston, EdD

Anthony Houston is president of the CommonSpirit Health Arizona Market. With more than 26 years of experience in health care leadership, Anthony has a deep understanding of acute care hospitals, as well as expertise in finance, facility planning, physician practice performance, mergers and acquisitions. Anthony also has a proven track record of driving organizational success and delivering high-quality care.

Before joining CommonSpirit’s Arizona Market, he served as market president of CHI Saint Joseph Health in Kentucky. Additionally, he has held key leadership roles as President and Chief Operating Officer of CommonSpirit in Tennessee and Georgia and as President of CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Anthony’s diverse leadership experience spans multiple health care settings, allowing him to drive operational excellence and strategic growth. His early career included roles in health care consulting. He worked at Fitch Ratings as a Senior Director in the Healthcare Ratings Group and at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Associate in health care provider planning. He began his administrative career at the University of Chicago, managing cardiothoracic surgery and transplant services.

Anthony holds a doctorate in Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University, a master’s degree in Health Services Administration from Xavier University and a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Cincinnati. He is board certified in health care management and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
