CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital and CommonSpirit Medical Group employees volunteered at a meal packing event at the J.A. Henry Community YMCA.
This Humankindness in Action volunteer day on Sunday, March 8, addressed food insecurity among local children. Employees packed meals for distribution to those in need. This event supports the community and showcases CommonSpirit's commitment to well-being.
"Our mission extends beyond providing health care within our facilities," said James Williams, Chief Operating Officer, CommonSpirit, Tennessee and Georgia. "This volunteer day with the YMCA is a powerful demonstration that humankindness lives here. It is within our teams and in the communities we serve. We are incredibly proud of our employees for making a difference in the lives of local children."
CommonSpirit employees worked alongside YMCA staff to prepare these meal kits. “At the YMCA, partnerships are key to our goal of serving 25,000 more people by 2028,” said Paula Irwin, Executive Director of the J.A. Henry Y. “We’re grateful to CommonSpirit for working alongside us to help reduce childhood hunger and serve our community. Together, we packaged 1,400 meals and prepared our facility for summer - our busiest season. By dedicating a full day and team of volunteers, they’re demonstrating true humankindness and making a meaningful difference for children and families in our community.”
CommonSpirit believes that investing in the health and well-being of its neighbors truly fosters a healthier and more compassionate community for all.
