CommonSpirit Health renews agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, ensuring continued access to high-quality care

CommonSpirit Health patients will maintain in-network access to the hospitals and clinics they know and trust

CHICAGO (Oct. 29, 2026) – CommonSpirit Health has finalized a multi-year contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) that ensures BCBSTX members continue to have in-network access to all CommonSpirit Health hospitals in Texas. Effective Nov. 1, 2026, the agreement affirms CommonSpirit’s commitment to protecting access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.

“Our priority is to provide patients with a reliable care experience that doesn’t compromise on access,” said Matt Brown, South Region president, CommonSpirit Health. “By strengthening our partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, we are reinforcing our steadfast commitment to patient affordability while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our care sites so we can continue serving our communities for years to come.”

The agreement covers all BCBSTX products and applies to all 17 CommonSpirit hospitals in the state, including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center locations in Houston, St. Joseph Hospitals in Brazos Valley and St. Luke’s Hospitals in Houston and east Texas.

Fair agreements with payers like BCBSTX support CommonSpirit’s ongoing dedication to driving innovation and patient-centered initiatives, ultimately fostering better health outcomes and continued access to care.

“For patients managing complex medical conditions, maintaining seamless access to specialty care is a clinical necessity,” said John Goss, MD, medical director of transplantation at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. “When patients can continue their treatment plans with the specialists who know their medical history best, we see significantly improved outcomes. This agreement ensures that our patients can focus entirely on their healing without the anxiety of interrupted care or forced transitions.”
