Grants will fund vital programs

CHICAGO – July 1, 2025 – CommonSpirit Health is pleased to award more than $6 million in grants to support the expansion of mental and behavioral health services to some of the most vulnerable communities in the Chicago area.

Headquartered in Chicago, CommonSpirit Health is proud to support programs that are so closely aligned with its mission.

“Since establishing our national office here in 2019, we have actively sought opportunities to strengthen our presence and further our mission of improving the health of all we serve, especially those most in need,” said CommonSpirit CEO Wright Lassiter III. “These grants reflect our deep commitment to addressing critical needs within our community.”

The grants, totaling $6,369,123, will be awarded to two organizations:

  • The Catholic Healthcare Foundation of Northern Illinois will receive $5,469,123 to expand behavioral health services available to youth and families on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

  • Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago (CCAC) will receive $900,000 to expand its Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS) and Counseling Program over the next three years. The program reaches underserved areas with high suicide rates and limited access to care.

“These partners play a vital role in a part of the city where mental health resources are scarce and where many residents face significant barriers to accessing care for trauma, community violence, and other challenges,” Lassiter said. “By strengthening and expanding resources, particularly for our youth, we can have a profound and lasting impact on the community's well being, safety, and future.”
