CommonSpirit Health Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive Officer, Thomas McGinn, MD, MPH, has been recognized with the prestigious Joint Commission Physician Leadership Award.
The Physician Leadership Award recognizes a physician who has made significant contributions to improving patient care, advancing medical practice and fostering a culture of excellence within their organization. Recipients are selected from the more than 22,000 U.S. healthcare organizations and programs served by the Joint Commission. In selecting honorees, the Joint Commission considers a physician’s ability to inspire and lead teams and implement innovative solutions to complex healthcare challenges.
“Our award honorees exemplify what healthcare can achieve when people and organizations are united by a commitment to excellence, innovation, collaboration and service of patients,” said Jonathan B. Perlin, MD, PhD, Joint Commission president and CEO. “Their contributions have advanced safer, higher-quality care and inspired progress for patients and families across the U.S. and around the world. We’re proud to celebrate their achievements and grateful for their ongoing dedication to shaping a stronger healthcare system and a better health future for all. Their accomplishments inspire us to think bigger, strive higher, and accelerate progress across the care continuum.”
Dr. McGinn was specifically recognized for his “exceptional efforts to advance a culture of quality, safety and evidence-based care across one of the nation’s largest health systems.” The Joint Commission also praised his “organizational vision that empowers clinicians, embraces innovation and continuously seeks better ways to deliver care.”
“This honor from the Joint Commission is a reflection of our commitment to clinical excellence and innovation across CommonSpirit Health,” Dr. McGinn said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with and lead our outstanding clinicians, each of whom is dedicated to ensuring the people we serve receive compassionate, safe, high-quality care.”
