Madison Thompson Receives DAISY Award for Nurses

Nurses are chosen each month to receive this award that honors compassionate care.

Chattanooga, TNCommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital recently honored Madison Thompson, RN, with the DAISY Award for Nurses.

A patient’s family nominated Thompson for her care. “Madison cared for my daughter like she was her daughter. Her positive attitude was fantastic and contagious. She is an example of what a nurse should be. She is caring and concerned with her patient’s well-being. She never made us feel we were a burden, and you can tell that she truly loves her job and her patients. Madison gives her all from the beginning to the end of her shift. She is a shining star who we will never forget, and we will always be grateful for the care that she provided for my daughter.”

Thompson works on Unit 3, a medical-surgical unit at CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital - Hixson. She has worked at CommonSpirit since 2021.

CommonSpirit partners with the DAISY Foundation to recognize the difference nurses make in the lives of patients and coworkers.

Nurses are chosen each month to receive this award that honors compassionate care. Honorees receive a bouquet of daisies, a certificate, a copy of their nomination letter and a sculpture called “A Healer’s Touch.” This sculpture is hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa. The honoree's nursing unit also receives a cinnamon doughnut party, because it takes a team for a nurse to do their best. Tasty Doughnuts donates the treats.
