New 40-Bed Rehab Hospital in Ooltewah, TN

CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation are partnering to build a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Ooltewah. It will open spring 2027.

CHATTANOOGA, TN, AND BRENTWOOD, TN (April 27, 2026) – CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation are building a new 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Lifepoint Rehabilitation is part of Lifepoint Health. The hospital will be on Mountain View Road in Ooltewah. It will open to patients next spring.

“We see a great need for full rehabilitation services, especially in this part of Hamilton County,” said Janelle Reilly, Market President, CommonSpirit, Tennessee and Georgia. “By building a hospital just for rehabilitation care, we can better help our patients. They can return home with more strength and ability after an illness or injury.”

CommonSpirit - Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital will be built and operated via a joint venture partnership between CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation. A team of trained rehabilitation professionals will care for adults. These adults may have lost function or have a disability from a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, nerve problems, orthopedic surgery, amputation and other conditions.

This rehabilitation hospital is designed to help patients heal. It will have modern features and special units. These include 12 beds for patients with brain injuries. It will also have therapy gyms, a special area for practicing daily activities and outdoor spaces to encourage movement.

“We know our partners at CommonSpirit share Lifepoint’s commitment to patient-centered specialty care,” said Russ Bailey, President of Lifepoint Rehabilitation. “Through this partnership, we will significantly expand access to vitally needed rehabilitation services in the tri-state region. We look forward to bringing our evidence-driven therapy models to patients here in Hamilton County and commit to continued investment in high-quality specialty care alongside the team at CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital.”

When it opens, Lifepoint Rehabilitation will manage the hospital’s day-to-day operations. This hospital will join their network of nearly 50 rehabilitation hospitals across the country.
