BEREA, Ky. (July 23, 2025) – The Saint Joseph Berea Foundation, on behalf of Saint Joseph Berea, has received a $35,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children to help improve its rehabilitation center, which provides comprehensive and specialized programming and care for children with disabilities and disorders.

Many children receiving care at the rehabilitation center face complex challenges, including sensory processing disorders, injury recovery and speech disorders. The WHAS Crusade for Children grant will fund the purchase of items across three main disciplines – occupational, physical and speech therapies – enhancing the center’s ability to deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary care. In 2024 alone, the rehabilitation center assisted 53 pediatric patients, resulting in over 3,000 therapy visits. These new resources will enhance the center’s capacity to develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each child’s unique developmental needs.

“We’re deeply grateful for this grant, which allows us to give local children the care and support they need to thrive,” said John Yanes, FACHE, CPPS, president of Saint Joseph Berea. “Every child deserves the chance to grow, learn and live a full life, and this funding helps make that happen for many families in our community.”

This grant represents a continued partnership between the two organizations to improve health outcomes for pediatric patients and provide critical support to local families.

“Having these enhanced services close by will make all the difference for this community,” said Dawn Lee, president and CEO, WHAS Crusade for Children. “We’re honored to assist Saint Joseph Berea on their mission to improve not only the lives of these children, but also those of their families.”
