LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 20, 2026) – Saint Joseph Health welcomes Kacie Heichelbech, PA, to Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Lexington. Heichelbech said developing a rapport with her patients is something she feels passionate about.
"I've always had the instinct to want to help people, and caring for others comes naturally to me," she said. "My goal is to give my patients the tools, knowledge, and support they need for them to feel empowered in taking charge of their health."
She chose primary care because it gives her an opportunity to address the whole person and treat patients with a wide range of ailments. She emphasizes preventive care, patient education and individualized care. She said primary care providers have the best opportunity to address needs of patients who may face socioeconomic challenges, like food insecurity or transportation issues.
“I like to empower my patients. I want to give them the tools and knowledge that they need to feel like they are in control of their bodies and their health,” she said. “I serve as a resource for patients. At the end of the day, my role is to help them along in their health journey as we use shared decision making to make the best choices for them.”
A Louisville native, Heichelbech knew she wanted to have a career in medicine, and learned about the role of physician assistants (PAs) while in college. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from the University of Louisville in 2021. After graduating from UofL, Heichelbech has served in roles as a physical therapy technician, a medical scribe and clinical assistant before earning her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky in 2025.
She said she decided to stay in Lexington because she loves the community. In her spare time, Heichelbech enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking and reading. She also enjoys volunteering when she can in various community organizations.
Kacie Heichelbech, PA, will see patients at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care, at 211 Fountain Court, Suite 340, in Lexington. To schedule an appointment, call (859) 263-1280.
