LONDON, Ky. (May 22, 2026) – Saint Joseph London is marking its 100th anniversary with a dedicated Saint Joseph Centennial Garden designed to be a peaceful haven for quiet reflection, meditation, and spiritual comfort for patients, families, and caregivers. The garden will stand as a lasting testament to a century of care and a spiritual promise for the future.
The garden will be dedicated June 25, and will be centered around a historic marble statue of Saint Joseph, which was carefully salvaged from the closed motherhouse in Akron, Ohio, belonging to the Dominican Sisters of Peace.
“Our history at Saint Joseph London is intertwined with the community,” said hospital president John Yanes. “We are proud to serve London, Laurel County and southeastern Kentucky for 100 years. We have been here for the community in times of great joy, and in times of great need. This garden is not just a tribute to our hospital and our caregivers, but also for everyone who was born here, has been cared for here and participated in our many community events sponsored on our campus”
To memorialize that connection, Saint Joseph London Foundation is offering the opportunity for the community to be a lasting part of the garden. Supporters can purchase and personalize engraved brick pavers that will be permanently integrated into the garden walkways, serving as a tribute or memorial. Donors can also sponsor a boulder with a personalized plaque, dedicate a dogwood tree in honor or celebration of a loved one, or support the garden through a personalized engraved wall plaque integrated into the garden rock wall framing the garden.
