Primary progressive multiple sclerosis is a form of MS in which the disease gets worse from the start. It occurs in a small number of people who have MS. People who have this type of MS may or may not have attacks (relapses).

There is no cure for MS. But there are medicines and other treatments that might slow its progression and treat symptoms.

What happens when you have primary progressive multiple sclerosis?

When you have primary progressive MS, the disease gets worse from the start. It may or may not cause attacks (relapses). How quickly this type of MS gets worse varies from person to person. This course of the disease isn't very common.
