Punam Patel, MD

Punam Patel, MD is a fellowship trained bariatric and minimally invasive surgeon with specialized training in robotic surgery for bariatrics and general surgery. She has been in practice since 2017 and looks forward to staying ahead of the curve in improving and providing quality care to improve patient lives. Dr. Patel received her medical degree and completed residency training at Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School. She then completed fellowship training through UT Houston/BMI of Texas and has been practicing bariatric and foregut surgery since that time. Dr. Patel is a highly trained bariatric surgeon specializing in robotic surgery using the DaVinci system. She has expertise in endoscopic bariatric revision procedures, including Overstitch, and reflux management with the Linx system. In 2024, Dr. Patel earned certification in obesity medicine from the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM), enhancing her ability to integrate medical and lifestyle strategies for patient success. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has completed the ASMBS fellowship certificate program. Outside of her surgical practice, Dr. Patel aims to be a role model for an active lifestyle. She is certified as an L1 Crossfit trainer, regularly does strength and endurance training, and is involved in local USTA league play.
