Ragesh Panikkath, MD

Dr. Ragesh Panikkath received his bachelor’s degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) from the Thrissur Government Medical College in Kerala, India, and further advanced training at Calicut University and the prestigious Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. He also served as a faculty for a short time in this institution of national importance under the central government of India. An Electrophysiology Research Fellowship brought Dr. Panikkath to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 2010. Dr. Panikkath then continued his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology fellowship at Texas Tech and his Electrophysiology Fellowship at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. After that, he worked as the sole Electrophysiologist doing complex ablations and conduction system pacing in Yuma County, Arizona. Dr. Panikkath has five board certifications in Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Internal Medicine and four board certifications in the Indian healthcare system. Dr. Panikkath’s professional interests include the medical management of arrhythmias, ablation for complex arrhythmias, Watchman implantation, device implantations including subcutaneous defibrillator placements, leadless pacemaker placement, and conduction system pacing (both His bundle and left bundle branch). He has published fifty manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and has presented more than fifty abstracts at national and international conferences. He was the captain of the winning 2018 Heart Rhythm Bowl team, an international quiz competition conducted by the Heart Rhythm Society. His care philosophy is “A patient only has one heart. They can’t live without it. If someone entrusts him with their heart, it’s his duty to do his best for them.” Dr. Panikkath’s personal interests include traveling, hiking, watching movies, and spending time with his children.
