At Dignity Health Advanced Imaging at North State, we use diagnostic imaging services, including technologies like X-rays, MRIs, PET scans, bone density tests and CT scans, to create internal images of your body. We also offer breast biopsies and mammograms to support diagnosis and treatments.

In most cases, yes. Your doctor will provide a referral for imaging services based on your symptoms or condition. Please check with us or your health care provider to confirm.

Our team may ask about your symptoms or medical history and will guide you through each step to help you feel comfortable.

Most imaging exams take about 15 minutes to one hour, depending on the test. While you may need to lie still or change into a gown, we focus on making your experience safe and comfortable, using the lowest radiation doses possible.

For many exams, like X-rays, no preparation is needed. However, some tests, including CT scans or MRIs that use contrast dye, may require you to avoid eating or drinking beforehand. We will share specific instructions before your appointment.

You can typically view your imaging results through your patient portal. We recommend discussing your results with your health care provider to understand what they mean for your health.
