Family Resource Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center

Raising a child in today's demanding environment presents unique challenges. Since 1989, the Family Resource Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) has been dedicated to empowering parents with the support, knowledge, and resources needed to navigate parenthood and ensure their children receive the best start in life. Recognizing the critical role of early childhood development, our mission is to promote strong parent-child relationships and healthy growth.

To achieve this, the Family Resource Center proudly offers three voluntary programs at absolutely no cost to you:

1. First Steps

Serving all births in YRMC’s Family Birthing Center every day of the year

Serving all births at YRMC’s Family Birthing Center, this program supports new parents and families adjusting to their new roles. Through daily visits from trained volunteers and staff, First Steps provides essential parenting information, early child development guidance, and referrals. It includes follow-up phone calls at one week and three months post-discharge (covering safe sleep, SIDS prevention, postpartum depression), and a wealth of parenting materials on topics from infant brain development to car seat safety.

2. Healthy Families

Enrollment is open prenatally or within 90 days after birth

This free, nationally accredited, trauma-informed program empowers parents with customized support from prenatal stages up to five years after birth. Available to families in the greater Quad City area, Healthy Families offers weekly or biweekly home visits with highly-trained specialists. The program includes individualized parenting education, developmental milestone monitoring, postpartum depression screenings, coordination with other providers, and family support activities, all tailored to each family's unique needs. 

3. Car Seat Safety Program

Everyone is eligible

Made possible by a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, this program addresses critical child passenger safety. It offers a one-time, 30-45 minute presentation and safety check on properly securing children in car or booster seats. New car seats can be provided free of charge if needed (due to expiration, damage, or inappropriateness). Appointments are required and conducted by nationally certified child passenger safety technicians at YRMC’s Del E. Webb Outpatient Center in Prescott Valley. Call (928) 771-5651 to schedule.
