Dr. Warren Shaikun Joins Saint Joseph Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine

BARDSTOWN, KY (March 4, 2026) – Saint Joseph Health welcomes Warren Shaikun, MD, to Saint Joseph Medical Group – Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine in Bardstown. After many years of coming to Bardstown to care for patients of University of Louisville Physicians Group, Dr. Shaikun is excited to become a part of the Saint Joseph system.

Dr. Shaikun recognized a need for more pulmonary care in Bardstown, with many patients having to travel to a larger city for care.  He specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of respiratory conditions affecting the lungs and breathing pathways as well as conditions that affect sleep.

While Dr. Shaikun always had a strong interest in science, he wasn’t sure where his career path would take him until he had the opportunity to shadow some physicians at University of Louisville Health, where his mother worked.

“I was really impressed with the team approach I’ve seen in hospitals between the surgeons and the nursing staff,” he said. “Everyone there was working for the patient.”

Dr. Shaikun earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Kentucky, then earned a Master of Science in Anatomy and Neurobiology, followed by his Doctor of Medicine, both from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. After completing his Internal Medicine Residency and Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa, he returned to Louisville, where he has been caring for patients since 2003.

Dr. Shaikun said he likes to get to know his patients, “not just their medical condition.”

Dr. Shaikun and his wife Debbie have three children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar and going to concerts, attending University of Kentucky football games and tailgating, and traveling.
