Saint Joseph Health to Adopt CommonSpirit Health Name

Saint Joseph Health hospitals and care sites in Kentucky will rebrand to CommonSpirit Health in July 2026. Patient care remains unchanged.

LEXINGTON, KY (April 29, 2026) Saint Joseph Health announced today that its hospitals, clinics and care sites throughout Kentucky will begin using the CommonSpirit Health name in July 2026. It is important for patients to know that this change will not affect their care, their physicians, their nurses or the services received at any of the locations.

Seven Saint Joseph Health hospitals will adopt the CommonSpirit name while adopting or maintaining the Saint Joseph name that Kentucky communities have embraced for generations. New hospital names include:

Additionally, Saint Joseph Jessamine  will pivot their naming to center around the specialty and patient care offerings that each facility is uniquely known for.

Saint Joseph Health has been part of CommonSpirit Health since 2019. By formally adopting the CommonSpirit name, Saint Joseph Health’s 5,200 team members, including 1,440 nurses and 250 physicians across eight hospitals and 85 care sites will visually align with their parent organization. CommonSpirit Health is one of the nation’s largest faith-based, nonprofit health care organizations, with more than 2,300 care sites and 158 hospitals across 24 states.

“We are proud of our long-standing legacy of serving Kentuckians, with Saint Joseph Hospital as Lexington’s first hospital, and our hospitals in London and Bardstown celebrating major milestones this year,” said Matt Grimshaw, CommonSpirit Health’s Market President, Kentucky. “While our signs will change, what will never change is our commitment to building healthier communities, a commitment we share with thousands of CommonSpirit team members across the country. Our commitment across Kentucky will continue to be providing the highest quality of care for our family, friends and neighbors with humankindness and compassion.”

In addition to its hospitals, Saint Joseph Health has care sites around the state, including an outpatient care center and emergency department in Nicholasville.

A combination of the words “Common Good” and “Holy Spirit,” the CommonSpirit name was derived from scripture: “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good,” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NIV). This thoughtful and intentional naming reflects the shared values of the hospitals and health systems that formed CommonSpirit in 2019, including Saint Joseph Health.

In the coming months, the community will begin to see the CommonSpirit name and logo appear throughout their local facilities, but it is the same dedicated team, providing the same high-quality care the community has always trusted.
