Urgent care treats illnesses or injuries that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening. This includes conditions such as the common cold, flu, minor cuts or sprains.

The ER is for serious or life-threatening conditions like chest pain, stroke symptoms, difficulty breathing, severe injuries or uncontrollable bleeding. If you think you may be experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.

Dignity Health Urgent Care - Woodland is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, but is open on other holidays.

Choosing the right level of care helps ensure you receive timely and appropriate treatment. Whenever possible, begin with your primary care provider (PCP). Your PCP is familiar with your medical history and can often address your concerns through a virtual visit or a scheduled in-person appointment. Your PCP’s care team can also help determine the most appropriate next step, including whether urgent care is recommended.

Care may be provided by a doctor, physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP). These providers are all licensed to diagnose conditions, order tests and prescribe medications.

When needed, our urgent care providers can coordinate with your primary care provider (PCP) to support continuity of care and help guide next steps after your visit. With your permission, we can send a summary of your urgent care visit to your PCP. We can also share what to expect after your visit, including prescription information, at-home care and recommendations to see a specialist or your PCP.
