Visitors are a valued part of our patients’ care team, and your safety is important to us. Visiting hours are 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily. 

Visiting guidelines by unit

• Emergency department: One visitor/support person per patient

• Isolation: Special guidelines apply, including protective equipment requirements

• Pediatric, NICU, end-of-life or patients with cognitive or developmental needs: Exceptions to visiting hours may be made

For safety, the hospital cannot accept package deliveries for patients; items will be returned to the sender. Please wash your hands often and avoid visiting if you’re sick.

Preparing for a hospital visit can feel overwhelming, but preregistering helps make the process easier. By providing your information ahead of time, you’ll save time and reduce stress on the day of your appointment or admission. While we don’t yet offer online preregistration, our admitting team is here to help.

Please have these items with you when you call:

• Your insurance identification card

• Procedure date and time (or expected delivery date)

• Type of procedure (such as knee replacement or hernia repair surgery)

• Personal contact information

• OB provider (for maternity patients)

Dominican Hospital’s Mobile Wellness clinic brings free health care to local neighborhoods. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. (closed 12–12:30 p.m. for lunch, and on holidays).

Our services include bilingual staff (English/Spanish), evaluation and treatment of certain medical conditions, help connecting patients with ongoing medical care and referral to local social services. The Mobile Wellness Clinic visits the following churches and community centers in Santa Cruz County:

Yes. Dominican Hospital provides spiritual support for all faiths and spiritual traditions. Our chapel serves as a quiet space for prayer, meditation and reflection. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.–8:30 p.m. 

You may also meet with a hospital chaplain by making a request through our spiritual care services upon admission into the hospital.

Dominican Hospital’s Center for Lifestyle Management in Santa Cruz offers medically supervised programs to help you take charge of your health, manage chronic conditions and improve your quality of life.  Care is provided by expert nurses, dietitians, exercise physiologists and wellness coaches. Services include:

• Cardiac rehabilitation

• Diabetes education and management

• Medical nutrition therapy

• Supervised exercise for peripheral artery disease. 

A physician referral is required, and most insurance plans (including Medicare and Medi-Cal) are accepted. You can also join Personal Enrichment Programs (PEP) classes such as aquatic rehab, balance training, nutrition, childbirth, stress reduction, yoga, Pilates and support groups.
