At Community Hospital of San Bernardino’s Family Birth Center, we offer supportive, expert maternity services before, during and after your delivery. Our compassionate team takes a family-centered approach to your care, helping you welcome your baby on the big day.
Our free childbirth classes and maternity tours let you know what to expect. In the maternity unit, our private suites are designed with your comfort in mind and feature a television, bathroom and sleeper chair for your labor partner.
After delivery, we offer breastfeeding support and 24/7 care for you and your baby. Our couplet care recovery suites allow your baby to stay with you, encouraging bonding. If your baby needs extra care after birth, the team in our Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides advanced services to help them grow and develop.

You and your birth partner remain in a private suite during all phases of the birthing process. Our skilled team provides comforting care as you welcome your baby.
If you are pregnant with diabetes or gestational diabetes, we are here to help. Our nurses collaborate with you and your doctor to manage your blood sugar levels during pregnancy.
Our highly trained providers manage high-risk pregnancies, helping women safely deliver their babies. Newborns who need extra support may get specialized services in our Level II NICU.
Our private suites for labor and delivery offer comfortable, highly functional beds that convert to an upright position, which allows gravity to help with an easier delivery. Rooms are designed so your baby can remain with you throughout your hospital stay. We are here to support you and your family every step of the way.

The most important item to bring with you is an approved infant car seat. You may also want to pack an outfit for your baby and a receiving blanket. We provide all other necessary items for your baby during your stay, including diapers and blankets.
However, you are welcome to bring anything that will make your stay more comfortable, including:
Comfortable clothes to wear home (maternity clothes)
Driver's license or ID card, insurance card, and pediatrician and OB/GYN contact information
Flip-flops
Lip balm

Yes, we offer the Prepared Childbirth Method class. The two-part class helps expectant parents feel confident, informed and empowered as they prepare for labor, delivery and life with a newborn.
Under your provider's guidance, we support all birthing options and honor your birth plan when possible. Birthing options include:
Natural childbirth (without pain medication)
Vaginal birth
Our highly functional birthing beds convert to an upright position, allowing gravity to help you deliver your baby vaginally.
Each private suite features comfortable, functional furnishings for you and a support person. Amenities include a television set, private bathroom and sleeper chair for your partner.
Yes, our labor and delivery nurses help you breastfeed and make sure you feel comfortable feeding your baby before you leave the hospital.
If you’re experiencing postpartum mood and anxiety concerns, we are here to help. Our supportive sessions focus on stress-reducing techniques and encouragement. We also offer breastfeeding support after returning home. Call (909) 806-1816 to schedule an appointment.
In our Level II NICU, we provide specialized care for premature babies, meeting their medical and developmental needs. Our team provides an environment to promote growth and healing, limiting light and noise when possible.
Our lactation consultants help your baby learn to feed. We also teach you how to recognize your baby’s cues so you can continue to meet their needs after leaving the NICU.
Yes. At Community Hospital of San Bernardino, we keep mothers and babies together during the hospital stay to encourage bonding opportunities. Skin-to-skin bonding often:
