Yes, if you are more than 14 weeks pregnant or up to six weeks postpartum, we have an OB Emergency Department (OBED) designed to provide immediate care for urgent or emergent pregnancy-related issues. Staffed 24/7 by our dedicated team of board-certified OB/GYN hospitalists, you'll receive expert attention regardless of the time, complexity or circumstances.
Often referred to as OB triage, our OBED is the appropriate place to go if you are experiencing:
Urgent or emergent pregnancy-related concerns when you are more than 14 weeks pregnant.
Active labor symptoms (our team will assess if it's time for admission to our Family Birth Center).
Postpartum concerns, up to six weeks after delivery.
Our OBED is located by the main ER. Please check in at the main ER, and you will be triaged and moved to the OBED, as appropriate.

The most important item to bring with you is an approved infant car seat. You may also want to pack an outfit for your baby and a receiving blanket. We provide all other necessary items for your baby during your stay, including diapers and blankets.

Yes, we would be happy to show you around our birth center. You can register for an in-person Stork Tour to see our facilities and learn what to expect on the big day.
You may bring one support person. Children are not allowed on the tours.
For babies requiring a higher level of care, such as premature infants or newborns requiring continuous monitoring, our sister hospital, Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento, offers Level III NICU services.
Yes, our nurses and lactation consultants are available to help you breastfeed your baby during your hospital stay.
After you return home, you can receive ongoing support at the Mercy Hospital of Folsom’s Outpatient Lactation Clinic. At the clinic, you can get one-on-one guidance from our experienced lactation consultants.
The lactation clinic is open Monday through Friday by appointment only. To make an appointment, call (916) 984-7347. We also offer drop-in hours on Wednesdays, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Yes, we offer complimentary doula services during your labor and delivery.
A doula provides informational, physical and emotional support to you and your birth partner during labor and delivery. They provide physical comfort during both medicated and nonmedicated births, making sure you have everything you need to labor and deliver your baby successfully.
Doulas are nonclinical professionals who provide support, encouragement, comfort and information during your labor and delivery. They help you feel at ease and stay with you during your labor and shortly after birth.
