At Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, we prioritize your birthing experience. Our dedicated Family Birth Center team takes the time to understand you and your preferences, providing personalized support as you welcome your new baby.

Recognizing that every person has unique needs during labor and delivery, we offer tailored maternity care in a private suite, complete with comfortable, homelike amenities. We provide a range of pain management options, including aromatherapy and a relaxing private jacuzzi tub.


For your newborn's safety, our nursery utilizes the latest security technology available, and our birth center staff are specially trained in emergency newborn care. Should your baby require advanced services, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is available at our sister hospital, Mercy San Juan Medical Center.

    Our Family Birth Center offers a comfortable, private environment for expecting parents and their new baby. Our skilled team provides personalized care before, during and after delivery.

    Our highly trained team provides lifesaving care to newborns when needed. If you need an emergency cesarean section, your doctor can safely deliver your baby in one of our surgical suites.

    Our newborn nursery features leading security technology and equipment. If your baby needs extra support, we partner with Mercy San Juan Medical Center to provide Level III NICU care.

The Family Birth Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital offers expert maternity services, including care for vaginal and cesarean births. We provide on-site anesthesia, pain management options and newborn care in a comfortable environment.

Our team focuses on your family’s comfort, preferences and values, helping you safely welcome your new baby.

Our spacious, private suites reflect the natural beauty of the foothills. You’ll experience labor, delivery and recovery in the same room, so you won’t have to move rooms after your baby is born.

The suite accommodates you, a support partner and your new baby. Amenities include:

The most important item to bring with you is an approved infant car seat. You may also want to pack an outfit for your baby and a receiving blanket. We provide all other necessary items for your baby during your stay, including diapers and blankets. 

However, you are welcome to bring anything that will make your stay more comfortable, including: 

  • Comfortable clothes to wear home (maternity clothes)

  • Driver's license or ID card, insurance card, and pediatrician and OB/GYN contact information

  • Flip-flops

  • Lip balm

  • Nightgowns

  • Nursing bras and nursing pads

  • Personal electronics and chargers

  • Personal toiletries

  • Snacks

  • Swimsuit and a change of clothes for your birth partner

Yes, we would love to show you around our birth center. You can register for an in-person Stork Tour to see our facilities and learn what to expect on the big day. You may bring one support person. No children are allowed on the tours.

For babies requiring a higher level of care, such as premature infants or those with difficult deliveries, our sister hospital, Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento, offers Level III NICU services.

Yes, our lactation consultants are available to answer your questions and help you learn to breastfeed your baby. You may also access our free breastfeeding classes from the comfort of your home.

Dignity Health’s Greater Sacramento hospitals offer a weekly online support group for breastfeeding parents. An international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) leads the group, which meets on Thursdays, 10:30 a.m–12 p.m.
