Skilled nursing care provides short-term and long-term medical care for people recovering from a serious illness, injury or surgery. It includes services like 24/7 care from registered nurses, medication management, wound care and rehabilitation therapy. The goal of skilled nursing care is to help people heal, regain strength and safely transition back to independent living or a lower level of care.
Common reasons for a stay at a skilled nursing facility include:
Chronic disease management
Complex wound care
End-of-life care
Recovery from joint replacement surgery
Bruceville Terrace residents receive a full range of quality medical services from a team of skilled health care professionals, including:
Life care planning through case management (social services)
Nutrition therapy
Wound care, including stage III and IV pressure ulcers and wound vac
We also offer chaplain services, end-of-life care and respite care for caregivers.
At Bruceville Terrace, we provide both short-term and long-term skilled nursing care. Short-term residents stay in our facility for 18 days on average. Long-term residents stay for one year on average. Upon leaving Bruceville Terrace, 60 percent of residents return home or to a facility that provides a lower level of care.
We have three gyms for physical therapy and rehabilitation. At Bruceville Terrace, we create a home-like environment surrounded by beautifully landscaped courtyards to keep residents as comfortable as possible.
A team of nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists develops a care plan specific to your needs. Rehabilitation therapy focuses on improving your ability to do everyday activities, such as dressing, eating and personal hygiene. Therapists also prioritize communication and mobility retraining.
Rehabilitation in a skilled nursing facility is less intense than at an inpatient rehabilitation facility. Our therapists work with you for about one to two hours each day, as many residents need to take a slower approach to recovery.
We consider both personal preference and special dietary needs when creating our menus at Bruceville Terrace. Residents also participate in meal selection and receive nutrition therapy as needed. Our spacious dining room is open to all residents. We also have a private dining room available for special family celebrations.
Yes, our full-time activities staff encourages residents to participate in events and activities designed to improve their quality of life. We coordinate daily activities such as crafts, games, classes and special celebrations. We also encourage residents to develop and cultivate their own interests and hobbies throughout their stay.
Family members are a key part of our residents' care team. We make it a priority to provide families with education about ongoing care, as well as training for when your loved one returns home.
Contact your insurance provider before your visit to understand your benefits. Our team can also help answer questions about billing and coverage.
