The Emergency Room at Mercy Hospital of Folsom provides 24/7 care for a wide range of critical injuries and illnesses. We are one of six Dignity Health hospitals located throughout the Greater Sacramento region that offer comprehensive services, including emergency medicine and diagnostic imaging. Our team includes emergency physicians, physician assistants, nurses, radiologists and laboratory technologists.
If you are more than 14 weeks pregnant or up to six weeks postpartum and have an urgent or emergent pregnancy-related need, our OB Emergency Department (OBED) is available to care for you. You will be seen by one of our board-certified OB/GYN hospitalists regardless of time, complications or circumstances. Commonly referred to as OB triage, our OBED is where you will go for:
Our OBED is located by the main ER. Please check in at the main ER, and you will be triaged and moved to the OBED, as appropriate.
From the moment of your arrival, our emergency care team is here to support your care with expertise and humankindness.
24/7 care
Advanced imaging services
Comfortable waiting rooms
Full-service lab
When every moment matters, our emergency team is here to support your care needs. We offer prompt evaluation and treatment, including tests, stabilization and referrals, when necessary. For those needing additional care, we help connect you with on-call specialists and coordinate admission to the hospital when needed.
We accept many major insurance plans. Emergency care is provided regardless of your ability to pay or whether you have insurance, and financial assistance options may be available.
The ER is for serious or life-threatening conditions like chest pain, stroke symptoms, difficulty breathing, severe injuries or uncontrollable bleeding. For less severe issues like minor cuts, sprains or colds, urgent care or express primary care may be more appropriate. If you think you may be experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
Our ER treats a wide range of conditions, from broken bones and chest pain to serious accidents and life-threatening injuries. Our team evaluates and treats unexpected illnesses, pain, mental health conditions and chronic disease complications.
During your visit, you may move through different areas for treatment. In our internal waiting room, you can receive IVs and fluids as needed. For patient privacy and space, visitors are not permitted in this area. We also have a task area where we start IVs, give medication and clinicians examine patients. You’ll return to the lobby for the next step of care, if needed.
Patients are seen based on how serious their condition is, not by order of arrival. This process is called triage. A nurse will assess your needs and ensure you receive the most appropriate care quickly. Patients with life-threatening issues, like a heart attack or severe injury, will be prioritized for immediate care.
Bring a photo ID, insurance card and a list of your medications (names, dosages and when you last took them). If you brought your medications, let your nurse know. Any past medical records are also useful. If you need assistance sharing health information, you may want to consider bringing a family member or friend.
Yes. Emergency care is provided regardless of your ability to pay or whether you have insurance. Your health and well-being are important to us, and financial assistance options may also be available.
We typically share a summary of your visit with your primary care provider (PCP) or referring health care provider. This helps keep your care team informed about your emergency department visit and any treatment you may have received, and supports follow-up care if needed.
After your visit, you’ll receive a billing statement. For billing assistance or questions, please call (888) 488-7667.
