Primary Care - Dignity Health in Santa Maria is one of the largest primary care clinics in the Santa Maria Valley. As part of The Marian Family Medicine Residency Program, we train the next generation of doctors. Many of the residents who work with us continue their medical practice within the community. We have bilingual staff and Mixteco interpreters available to assist you.
We provide care for your whole family, including chronic condition management, preventive care and health screenings. We diagnose and treat common illnesses and chronic conditions, such as colds and flu, heart disease, diabetes and more.
Each patient care team includes residents, physicians and medical assistants. This team-based approach improves continuity, quality and access to care. Care is available in our nurturing office environment or through a convenient virtual visit. We’re proud to be part of the Pacific Central Coast Health Centers (PHC).
Our team can screen for and treat various mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety.

A primary care provider is a health care professional you see for any non-emergent health concerns. Primary care providers include family medicine doctors and advanced practice providers (APPs).
Each patient care team includes family medicine residents, two supervising physicians (who are also residency faculty members) and two medical assistants. This team-based approach ensures continuity of quality care.
An advanced practice provider (APP) is a health care professional who has advanced education and clinical training, allowing them to take on a broader scope of practice and perform tasks traditionally carried out by physicians. This category includes nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and clinical nurse specialists (CNSs).
These professionals play a crucial role in providing health care services, including diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications and offering preventive care. APPs are essential members of health care teams, contributing to the delivery of comprehensive and accessible patient care.
We offer care for a wide variety of conditions, including:
Lifestyle medicine addresses the root causes of disease with evidence-based therapies such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, social connection and stress management. Integrative medicine combines lifestyle therapies with conventional medicine and surgery. Integrative modalities may include nutrition and culinary medicine, movement, supplements, acupuncture and manual therapy.
Common primary care procedures include:
Biopsy and excision of skin lesions
Flu shots and immunizations
Joint injections
Minor wound care
Physical exams for sports, school and summer camp
