What we offer

  • Biopsy
    Biopsy

We offer several types of breast biopsies, including fine needle aspiration, core needle biopsy and stereotactic biopsy. During a biopsy, a doctor removes a small sample of cells or tissue to be examined for signs of breast disease.

  • DEXA Scan (Bone Density Test)
    DEXA Scan (Bone Density Test)

Some breast cancer treatments increase your risk of osteoporosis, a disease that thins and weakens your bones. DEXA scans use X-rays to detect signs of low bone density.

  • Diagnostic Radiology
    Diagnostic Radiology

Our radiologists provide standard imaging such as X-rays, ultrasound, CT, mammography and MRI. These detailed pictures help guide your next steps in care.

Frequently asked questions

A women’s imaging center is a specialized facility focused on diagnostic imaging services for women’s health needs. These centers commonly provide breast imaging services such as screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound and breast MRI, as well as bone density scans. Women’s imaging centers are designed to offer a comfortable, supportive environment with technologists trained in women’s health imaging. The goal is to support early detection, accurate diagnosis and ongoing preventive care.

Women’s imaging centers typically offer screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound and, in some cases, breast MRI. These imaging tests help detect breast changes early, evaluate symptoms such as lumps or pain and monitor breast health over time. Your doctor may recommend a specific test based on age, risk factors or symptoms. Imaging specialists work closely with your care team to ensure timely, accurate results.

Most women’s imaging services, including mammograms, require an appointment to ensure proper preparation and minimize wait times. Some centers may offer same-day or walk-in appointments for certain exams. At Dignity Health Women’s Health & Imaging Center, our team can help schedule your visit, explain preparation steps and answer insurance or coverage questions before your appointment.

During your visit to Dignity Health Women’s Health & Imaging Center, a technologist will explain the procedure and answer any questions before the exam begins. Most imaging tests are quick and painless. You may be asked to change into a gown or remain still during the scan. After the exam, images are reviewed by a radiologist, and results are shared with your ordering physician.

We offer education, resources and treatment that address changing health care needs after menopause. Clinical and radiology services are available through the Women's Health and Imaging Center. We focus on surgical care, osteoporosis and other postmenopausal procedures. Education for postmenopausal women is also available.

Early detection is important. Women age 40 and older should have annual mammogram screenings, as recommended by the American Cancer Society.

In addition to mammography, we provide diagnostic ultrasound procedures when prescribed by your doctor.

The nurse navigator program provides assistance to patients at no charge. Our nurse navigators guide, advocate for, support and offer hope to all who come to the Women's Health and Imaging Center. They assess each patient's situation and help determine your care plan.

Many major health insurance plans cover diagnostic imaging when it is medically necessary. Coverage may vary based on your insurance provider, the type of imaging test and whether prior authorization is required. Our imaging center staff can help verify insurance coverage and explain benefits before your appointment.

Yes. Imaging centers follow strict safety guidelines to ensure exams are performed safely. Technologists use the lowest radiation dose necessary for tests such as X-rays and CT scans. MRI and ultrasound do not use radiation. Your care team will review your medical history to ensure the exam is appropriate for you.
