Hyperbaric medicine uses hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help when you have wounds that won’t fully heal. This type of treatment increases the oxygen in your blood, which can prevent tissue from dying, promote healing and help fight infections in your body. To get this type of treatment, you sit or lie down in an enclosed chamber. Then, we raise the pressure inside the chamber and give your body oxygen.
We offer a range of wound healing treatments, including:
Bioengineered tissue substitutes
Debridement (removal of dead or damaged tissue)
Specially chosen dressings and wraps
Platelet growth technologies
Wound vac (vacuum-assisted closure) / negative pressure wound therapy
At your first visit, our specialists will review your medical history, evaluate the cause and severity of your wound, and work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. We’ll discuss what to expect during future visits, and we’ll give you clear guidance for how to care for your wound between appointments.
At St. Elizabeth Community Hospital’s Wound Center, we have a well-trained team of doctors and nurses dedicated to healing chronic wounds. Causes of open wounds can be complex, and our group has the expertise necessary to handle the specific problems you’re having.
Referral requirements depend on your insurance plan and the type of care you need. Our team can also help with referral and scheduling questions.
