We know every journey to health and wellness is different. Whether you need cost estimates, financial assistance, help paying bills or information about accepted insurance plans, we’re here to guide you and make the process simple and reassuring.
Visitors are a valued part of our patients’ care team, and your safety is important to us. To support that connection, we welcome up to two visitors at a time for each patient daily from 7 a.m.–6 p.m., but minors must be accompanied by an adult (other than the patient) at all times.
Visiting guidelines by unit
Overnight/extended stay: One support person for overnight stays are permitted for patients with physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities and cognitive impairments. The charge nurse or department leader may end visitation if needed
Same-day/outpatient: Up to two companions allowed
Labor and delivery: Siblings of all ages may visit. Spouses/support persons may pick up food at the main hospital entry

Yes. Our spiritual care staff is available to all patients, their families and caregivers to provide comfort in times of doubt or need.
The chapel is open daily from 6 a.m.–8 p.m., and a daily morning prayer can be heard over the public address system at 9 a.m. Mass is celebrated on weekdays at 11:30 a.m. and on Sundays at 10 a.m.
The chapel and the spiritual care services office are located on the first floor of the hospital in the West Wing. Tell your nurse if you'd like to request a visit with a priest or chaplain. Call (562) 491-9675 for more information.

Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the community, gain experience working in a hospital setting and make a difference in the lives of others. If you would like to volunteer, complete our adult (ages 18 and above) or student (ages 15-17) online application or contact the volunteer services coordinator at (562) 491-9766.
You can also support the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation through a monetary donation, where 100% of every dollar donated goes toward the program or need to which it is designated.

Yes, St. Mary Medical Center is the Los Angeles County Disaster Resource Center for the greater Long Beach area. All nine Long Beach area hospitals, from Catalina Island to Downey, are under the umbrella of the St. Mary Medical Center Disaster Resource Center.
The team meets with local hospitals monthly to discuss surge capacity and other vital emergency preparedness issues. The team also coordinates disaster drills with agencies throughout Long Beach.
