The Outpatient Imaging at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center offers a full range of advanced imaging services in Phoenix and nearby communities. Our 17,000 square foot center is conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital off Third Avenue just north of Thomas Road. We provide a wide range of services, including MRIs, CT scans, nuclear medicine, ultrasounds and women’s imaging like breast MRIs, mammograms and breast ultrasounds.

Our technology provides timely, accurate images to help support your health journey, and every image is reviewed by our board-certified radiologists and neuroradiologists. Our team is here to guide you through each step with care and humankindness.

In most cases, yes. Your doctor will provide a referral for imaging services based on your symptoms or condition. Please check with us or your health care provider to confirm.

Our team may ask about your symptoms or medical history and will guide you through each step to help you feel comfortable. Most imaging exams take about 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the test. The exams are generally safe, use the lowest necessary radiation and are usually painless. You may need to lie still or change into a gown. 

When you arrive, complimentary valet parking is available, along with validated self-parking in the Third Avenue garage. A comfortable waiting area is provided for check-in, and transportation is available to other hospital departments.

For many exams, no preparation is needed. However some tests, including CT scans or MRIs that use contrast dye, may require you to avoid eating or drinking beforehand. We will share specific instructions before your appointment.

You can typically view your imaging results through your patient portal. We recommend discussing your results with your health care provider, who can explain what your test results mean for your health.

Many imaging exams are covered by insurance, but coverage can vary by plan and test. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for specific coverage details before your appointment.
