Yes, we offer both inpatient and outpatient surgery. If you have inpatient surgery, you’ll stay at the hospital for at least one night to make sure you get the right postoperative care. If you have outpatient surgery, you can go home the same day that you have the procedure.

Please bring your photo ID, insurance card and payment method to your appointment. Once you arrive at Dignity Health Medical Group, you should expect to:

  • Fill out any necessary forms

  • Receive your hospital ID bracelet

  • Get your vitals taken, such as heart rate, blood pressure and temperature

  • Provide a urine sample (in some cases)

  • Leave your belongings in a secured area or with your loved one 

  • Change into a hospital gown and slippers 

  • Get your IV placed

During surgery, your family can track your progress on a board in the waiting room. After surgery, you’ll go to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) so that our skilled nurses can monitor your vital signs and manage any discomfort you may have as you recover.

Recovery after surgery depends on your health and the type of procedure you have. Your care team will discuss what to expect during recovery, including how to care for yourself at home to support your healing.

After undergoing outpatient or inpatient surgery, your recovery begins in our post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Skilled nurses will monitor your vital signs and manage any discomfort you might have while anesthesia wears off.
