A hospital-based clinic is part of a hospital and can handle more serious or complex health issues, with easy access to tests, specialists and hospital care if needed. A primary care clinic (sometimes called an ambulatory clinic) focuses on routine, everyday care like checkups, vaccinations, managing chronic conditions and minor procedures. The care offered in a primary care clinic is usually for patients who don’t need to be in the hospital.
The Family Care Clinic offers comprehensive care for patients of all ages. Your care team may include resident doctors, advanced practice providers (APPs) and a highly qualified nursing staff.
Common services offered include:
Routine family medicine services
Prenatal and postpartum care
Well-child visits
Dermatology care through our specialized skin clinic
Minor procedures like lesion removal and joint injections
Behavioral health services are also available on-site, including warm handoffs to clinical social workers, and Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) is provided for patients with substance use disorders.
An advanced practice provider (APP) is a health care professional who has advanced education and clinical training, allowing them to take on a broader scope of practice and perform tasks traditionally carried out by physicians. This category includes nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and clinical nurse specialists (CNSs).
These professionals play a crucial role in providing health care services, including diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications and offering preventive care.
Our resident physicians train in a collaborative, team-based environment with access to twenty exam rooms, a minor procedure room, and a center room for teaching and coordination. Over three years, residents build a personal patient panel, gaining experience in the full spectrum of family medicine. They learn a variety of procedures, provide prenatal care, deliver babies and manage follow-up care, all while working with a diverse patient population.
During residency, our providers work in our clinics under the supervision of attending physicians, gaining hands-on experience diagnosing and treating patients, performing minor procedures, and providing a range of treatments.
Our Family Care Clinic accepts Medicare MediCal and most major insurance plans. Before your visit, we recommend confirming your insurance coverage, eligibility and benefits with your health plan. To contact the Family Care Clinic, call (209) 564-4500.
We accept walk-ins on a first come, first serve basis. Medication refills, as well as hospital and emergency room follow up visits require an appointment.
