Orthopedic doctors care for a variety of conditions that affect your bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. You may need to see an orthopedic specialist for problems such as:

• Bone fractures and stress fractures
• Back injuries
• Elbow problems and injuries
• Knee problems and injuries
• Hand and wrist injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis
• Shoulder problems and injuries
• Neck problems and injuries
• Osteoarthritis
• Overuse and repetitive motion injuries
• Sports injuries
• Sprained or torn ligaments
• Toe, foot and ankle problems

We provide diagnostic and treatment services within our program. Imaging tests help your doctor see what’s going on inside your body. Some of those tests include:

• Computed tomography (CT) scan
• Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
• Myelography (imaging of the spine and the fluid-filled space between the bones)
• Ultrasound imaging
• X-ray and arthrography (more detailed X-rays)

We also offer advanced orthopedic treatments, including:

• Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair
• Arthroscopic surgery
• Hip replacement
• Joint replacement surgery
• Knee replacement surgery

During your first appointment, your orthopedic doctor will discuss your medical history and the reason for your visit. Your doctor will ask about your symptoms, such as pain or swelling, and perform a physical exam.

Your doctor may recommend imaging tests, such as an X-ray, CT scan or MRI, to help diagnose an issue. They may also explain possible diagnoses and treatments that could help.
