OB-GYNs provide care for women of all ages. These physicians practice both gynecology and obstetrics — the medicine and science of childbirth and its aftercare.
Between the ages of 13-15 is the ideal time for someone’s first OB/GYN appointment. Your first visit can include a discussion with your doctor about your vaginal health and sexual history. You may also have a few exams, such as a general physical and an external exam of your genitals. It is unlikely that you will need to have a pelvic exam or a Pap test at your first gynecology appointment.
After your first positive pregnancy test, most OB-GYNs will see you within 8 weeks after your last menstrual cycle.
Yes. The dedicated team at Henderson Women's and Children's Center provides personalized care throughout labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) – all within the familiar comfort of your private suite. Our contemporary LDRP suites allow you to labor, deliver, recover and begin your postpartum journey all in the same beautiful and supportive space.
The most common reasons your physician might recommend a C-section include:
Your baby is too big for your pelvis.
Your baby does not tolerate labor and it is safer for the baby to be born by cesarean section.
Your contractions are not strong enough to fully dilate your cervix.
