Advance directives let you plan for your health care if you become unable to communicate. In Arizona, there are three types: 

• Health Care Power of Attorney (Poder Legal Médico), which appoints someone to make medical decisions for you
• Living Will (Testamento Médico en Vida), which outlines treatment preferences in certain conditions like terminal illness or irreversible coma
• Prehospital Medical Care Directive (DNR), which tells emergency personnel not to resuscitate you outside the hospital.

Adults 18 or older or emancipated minors can create directives, which must be signed, dated, and witnessed or notarized. Copies should be shared with your doctor, decision-maker, family, clergy and facilities. Directives can be changed or revoked, and you don’t need a lawyer. Arizona also honors certain out-of-state directives.

At Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, we care for your body, mind and spirit. Our spiritual care services are available to you and your loved ones throughout your medical treatment. 

Chaplains are available daily:

• 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday 
• 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Saturday
• 8 a.m.–11:30 p.m. Sunday

Emergency spiritual care services are also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your nurse can arrange a visit for you upon request, or you may visit the chapel located on the first floor of the hospital. Please call (480) 728-8330 for more information.

CareAdvisor is a convenient tool that allows you to track your loved one's hospital stay or emergency visit. You can use it to get updates on your loved one’s location, estimated wait times and other important information, all from your mobile device. With Care Advisor, you can:

• Communicate with your care team 
• Get follow-up appointment information
• Get information on patient services 
• Make service requests 
• Receive discharge summary 
• See lab results

Getting started
No sign-up or download required. Simply provide a cell phone number at registration and follow the steps to get started. Ask a patient experience nurse for help.

Our cafeteria is open daily from 6:30 a.m.–11:30 p.m. We offer a variety of grab-and-go meals and snacks throughout the day. The Grill serves hot breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our delicatessen offers lunch on weekdays, and vending machines are available at all times.

Our onsite Starbucks store is open from 6:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. weekdays and 6:30 a.m.–1 p.m. weekends.

The gift shop is located on the first floor and is open everyday except Fridays and holidays. The shop hours are:

• 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday
• 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
