Mercy Medical Center has served the Merced community since 1873 and is a fully accredited acute care hospital. Our eight-level hospital features 186 licensed beds, private rooms and birthing suites designed for comfort and healing. Mercy Medical Center is also a certified Primary Stroke Center, has been nationally recognized for excellence in hip and knee replacement, and has received an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group.

Our goal is to provide care in a safe environment and support patients throughout their visit. With private rooms, flexible dining, spiritual care services, wellness programs and a convenient online patient portal, Mercy Medical Center offers services and amenities designed to support patient comfort and convenience. We also offer free WiFi and access to lounges and ATMs at our hospital. Patients and families are supported by a compassionate team focused on connection, respect and care.
We know every journey to health and wellness is different. Whether you need cost estimates, financial assistance, help paying bills or information about accepted insurance plans, we’re here to guide you and help make the process simple and reassuring as possible.
Visitors are a valued part of our patients’ support system, and your safety is important to us. Visiting hours are 8 a.m.–9 p.m. All visitors must be 12 years of age or older, and visitors 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Only two visitors are allowed in a patient’s room at one time.
Additional guidelines:
Family Birth Center: Two support people are allowed during the postpartum period and up to two additional visitors are allowed at a time during regular hospital visiting hours. Patients may bring a small (carry-on size) suitcase with them. No car seats or blankets are allowed at any time. Only one pillow is allowed.
ICU: No food, drinks or live plants or flowers are allowed.
Cell phone use: Cell phones must stay in silent mode to maintain a quiet restful environment. No photos or videos are allowed inside the hospital.
Health and safety: Masks are not required but are welcomed. If you have any respiratory symptoms such as cough or sneezing, you will be asked to wear a mask while in our facility. Please wash your hands often and avoid visiting if you’re sick.
Before hospitalization, it can help to understand your rights as a patient and gather a few important items in advance. You have the right to make decisions about your medical care, including being informed about your treatment options and their possible benefits and risks. You may choose to consent to or refuse treatment, including life-sustaining care.
Bring the following items with you to the hospital:
A list of all current medications, including over-the-counter and dosage details
Your insurance card or billing information
Your Advance Directive, or a completed copy of our form (English and Spanish)
Personal toiletries and containers for items like glasses, contacts or hearing aids if you’ll be staying overnight
Minimal clothing, including comfortable sleepwear, a robe and slippers
