Since 1912, St. John's has provided compassionate, quality health care to Ventura County and the surrounding area. Our hospital is designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, and our emergency department is an accredited Level III geriatric emergency department. We are also home to Camarillo's first-ever cardiac catheterization lab and a dedicated cancer resource center.
As a patient, you also have access to Dignity Health Medical Group primary care providers and specialists who work closely with our hospital to keep your care connected. Together with our sister hospital, St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, we are the largest provider of nonprofit health care in Ventura County, collectively caring for nearly 140,000 patients each year.
Emergency Room
Emergency Room Hours:
Our goal is to ensure that all patients are cared for in a safe environment and their health needs are met continuously. As a patient, you have access to spiritual care and language and interpretation services to make your visit and recovery as safe and comfortable as possible.
We’re here to make the billing process easier. Whether you need a cost estimate, details about financial assistance or information on accepted insurance plans, our team is ready to help.
Visitors are a valued part of our patients’ care team, and your safety is important to us. Visiting hours are Monday–Friday, 5:30 a.m.–8 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. The north lobby is open daily during visiting hours; the south lobby is open Monday – Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m.
Patients may have two visitors (age 16 or older and in good health) at a time, with rotation allowed. Exceptions may be made for end-of-life situations, and overnight stays are considered case by case. Please wash your hands often and avoid visiting if you’re sick.
Visiting guidelines by unit
ICU: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily
Labor and delivery: Open 24/7. Siblings may visit 8 a.m.–8 p.m. with an adult

As a patient, you have the right to make decisions about your medical care. This includes being fully informed about your treatment options, their benefits and risks. You may choose to consent to or refuse any treatment, including life-sustaining care. Please speak up if you have questions or concerns.
If you are ever unable to speak for yourself, your wishes can be outlined in an advance directive, such as a Health Care Power of Attorney or Health Care Directive. Advance directive forms are available in both English and Spanish. We offer an advanced directive form for your convenience, but you are welcome to use another form if you already have one, for instance, a document prepared by your lawyer.
