Learn more about family medicine

A primary care provider (PCP) is a health care professional you see for many routine and non-emergent health concerns. A family medicine provider is one type of PCP, and PCPs can also include advanced practice providers (APPs), such as nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs).

Learn more about primary care

Our primary care team includes family medicine physicians, resident physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs). They’re focused on building long-term relationships with patients and families. We treat acute illnesses, help manage chronic conditions and focus on prevention and education to support your overall health.

A resident physician is a medical doctor who has graduated from medical school and is completing postgraduate training in a specialized area of medicine. During residency, our providers work in our clinics under the supervision of attending physicians, gaining hands-on experience diagnosing and treating patients, performing minor procedures and delivering a range of treatments. Our resident physicians are furthering their practice knowledge within both clinic and hospital settings, building the skills needed to provide comprehensive patient care.

An advanced practice provider (APP) is a health care professional who has advanced education and clinical training, allowing them to take on a broader scope of practice and perform tasks traditionally carried out by physicians. This category includes nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and clinical nurse specialists (CNSs).

These professionals provide health care services, including diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications and offering preventive care.
