Frequently asked questions

Visitors are a valued part of our patients’ care team, and your safety is important to us.  Visiting hours are daily from 7a.m–9 p.m. The number of visitors permitted at the bedside of a patient may vary. 

All visitors must check in with security and wear a visible visitor name badge throughout the visit. Visitation by children under age 12 will be at the discretion of the interdisciplinary team, and they must be supervised at all times during the visit. Please wash your hands often and avoid visiting if you’re sick.

We want your stay to be comfortable, safe and stress-free. Rooms are assigned based on your doctor’s orders, care needs and availability. Please bring only essential clothing and toiletries. Leave all valuables and electric appliances such as hair dryers or razors  at home.

During your stay, you’ll have access to: 

Your meals will be served daily during the following times:

  • Breakfast: 7:15.–9 a.m.
  • Lunch: 11:15 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5–6:30 p.m.

Early detection can save lives. Our hospital offers several preventive health screenings to help identify conditions before symptoms appear, including:

  • Breast cancer: Screening mammograms at our Women’s Imaging Center

  • Heart disease: Heart wellness screening with CT calcium scoring to check your risk for coronary artery disease

  • Lung cancer: Low-dose CT scans for adults 50 and older with a smoking history.

  • Prostate cancer: Annual screenings for men 40 and older (or 35 and older if high-risk) at our Community Cancer Center

The Ambulatory Treatment Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital provides hospital-level care without an overnight stay. Patients receive treatments such as blood therapy, chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, and wound or line care in a comfortable outpatient setting.

Where you choose to welcome your new addition to the family is a big decision. We offer in-person tours of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Family Birth Center to ensure your child’s birth is as special as it can be. 

As a patient, you will experience labor, delivery and recovery all in the comfort of one spacious, private room, each featuring little luxuries and sleeping accommodations for a support person.

We believe every patient deserves care that reflects their values, wishes and dignity. Advance directives give you the opportunity to share your wishes for medical care if you’re unable to speak for yourself. It can outline preferences for life-sustaining treatment, pain control and name someone to make decisions on your behalf.

If you already have an advance directive, please bring a copy with you when you come to the hospital. If you don’t, you can complete a form during your stay or download one in English or Spanish. Our chaplains, case managers, discharge planners and social workers are here to help you through the process.

Volunteers are an integral part of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, extending non-clinical care and compassion to all patients and visitors. Our volunteers help in many areas, including the gift shop or lobby desks, and:

  • Cancer center

  • Diagnostic imaging center

  • Emergency department

  • Fundraising

  • Nursing floors

Trained volunteers may also work with newly diagnosed breast cancer patients through the Women's Imaging Center Peer Support Volunteer Program. To volunteer with the program, you must have been diagnosed more than a year before and be finished with breast cancer treatment.
