Dignity Health Arizona volunteers play a vital role in patient care. Each year, our volunteers dedicate tens of thousands of hours to supporting high-quality care for our patients and community.
Experience the joy of making a meaningful impact and creating a welcoming environment for patients, families, friends and staff.
We welcome individuals who are compassionate, reliable and committed to helping others. We look for volunteers who can dedicate a few hours each week or provide assistance with special projects. Age requirements vary by location. Volunteers must complete an application, pass a background check, meet immunization requirements and attend an orientation session.
Our volunteers assist in many areas, enhancing the patient and visitor experience. Roles vary by location but may include greeting and directing visitors, providing clerical support, assisting with patient transport, offering companionship, pet therapy visits or helping in gift shops. We match your interests and skills with our needs to ensure a fulfilling experience.
Dignity Health has several facilities across Arizona, from the Phoenix Metro Valley to Yavapai County, where you can volunteer. These include the following hospitals:
When you apply, you’ll be able to select the specific location that works best for you, guiding you through available opportunities in your chosen community.
Each summer, many Dignity Health locations offer a junior volunteer program for teenagers. This program allows teens to help others, make friends and learn about health care jobs. Our junior volunteers can develop new skills, meet people, observe health care professionals and improve their eligibility for college scholarships and admission.
Many patients choose Dignity Health because we provide a supportive hospital stay. Volunteers help us achieve this goal. Junior volunteers work in many areas including:
Transportation
Information technology
Copy center
Information desk
Junior volunteers also assist in other areas as needed within the hospital
Applications for the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center Summer Junior Volunteer Program are currently closed. Please check back for future updates.
Starting your application is easy. First, choose the hospital where you want to volunteer. This will take you to the correct online volunteer interest form. The form will then ask you whether you are applying as an adult or a teen volunteer.
Once submitted, our volunteer services team will review your application and contact you for the next steps, including an interview and orientation.
Volunteering at Dignity Health offers numerous benefits beyond helping others. You'll gain new skills, make new friends and become part of a compassionate team. Many volunteers find it to be an enriching experience that provides a sense of purpose and connection to their community. It's also an excellent way to explore career paths in health care.
